BREAKING: DSS Arrests Major Arms Supplier To Terrorist Groups

The Department of State Services (DSS) may have recorded a breakthrough in the efforts to contain the activities of terrorist groups, moreso major supplier of armed gangs in the north.

This it has done with an operation that resulted in the disruption of a high target arms supply network linked to terrorist activities in Plateau and neighboring states.

It also resulted in the arrest of one Musa Abubakar, described by security sources as a key arms supplier to armed gangs in parts of the north, especially Plateau and Yelewa.

According to one security source on Sunday, the suspect was arrested on November 12, 2025 following precise intelligence

The source told Vanguard “The suspect confessed to having manufactured and distributed high-calibre weapons and ammunition to armed groups involved in violent attacks in Plateau State and other northern regions.

He is believed to have made such weapons available for the use of terrorist groups.

“Abubakar was apprehended red-handed with various Improvised Explosive Device (IED) components, chemicals, and equipment, which have all been confiscated by DSS operatives”, the source said.

The DSS action came on the heels of credible intelligence information on the activities of the terrorist gangs, resulting in a targeted raid on their manufacturing workshop located in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.

DSS operatives had earlier conducted extensive surveillance on Abubakar’s residence and workshop to gather critical intelligence.

A top security operative this comes shortly after the recapture of Abdulazeez Obadaki, aka Bomboy, a Kuje Prison escapee who masterminded Owo and Deeperlife Church attacks.

The Eagle reports that as part of the bid to improve its efficiency, the Department of State Services recently dismissed a total of 115 personnel over what it described as fraudulent activities.

The service also used the opportunity to warn citizens to be wary of persons who may present themselves as DSS personnel.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealing with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service.

“For the sake of clarity, the identities of the dismissed personnel have been published on the website of the Service”, the service announced on its website.
