Bobrisky Has Been Released From Prison

Nigeria controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky has been released from prison.

He was released this morning freedom from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, where he had been held in the last six months.

The Eagle reports that on April 12, 2024, the crossdresser, was jailed for spraying the national currency, The Naira at social gatherings, a conduct frowned at by Nigerian laws.

As at today however, Bobrisky has been released from prison, as shown by a video on X, on which also appeared Nigerian actress, Eniola Ajao..

“I’ve missed you guys so much. I can’t wait to have you guys and give you guys what you have missed,” Bobrisky said.

The Eagle reports that Bobrisky had been sentenced by the Federal High Court in Lagos to six months imprisonment, following arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a six-count charge.

The court ruled that by spraying a total sum of N400,000 at imax Circle Mall, Lagos on the 24, March,2024, that Bobrisky abused the naira.

He was also accused of tampering with N50, 000.00 between July and August 2023 during a social event at Aja Junction, lkorodu.

Another charge was that  sometime in December 2023, he tampered with the sum N20,000.00 by spraying the Naira notes at White Steve Event Hall, Ikeja, at another social event.

The court also held that the dress-crosser tampered with the sum N20, 000.00 (Twenty Thousand Naira) by spraying  whilst dancing during a social event, sometimes in 2022 at Event Hall, Oniru, Victory Island.

The court said Bobrisky’s conduct was an offence contrary to and punishable under section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act, 2007.

Two of the charges were later dropped, amidst his plea of guilty to naira abuse, but for mercy as a first-time offender.

The news of his release was broken this morning.
