Bernardo Silva Back On Barca’s Transfer Radar

Bernardo Silva, a midfielder for Manchester City, is apparently once again the target of Barcelona, who are reportedly optimistic that they can close a deal in January.

The 28-year-old Silva, who joined City in 2017, has won four league championships with the organization. He is now having another successful season after tying his previous career best of eight Premier League goals during the 2021–22 season.

In his 12 league games this year, the 72-cap Portuguese international has two goals and five assists. He has also played in each of City’s six group stage matches in the Champions League.

Sport claims that Barcelona’s financial freedom has greatly increased as a result of Gerard Pique’s retirement, allowing them to reevaluate their prior interest in Silva.

According to the source, City may be reluctant to let go of a crucial player while vying for the title, although Silva had already expressed a desire to quit the team before the botched transfer of Frenkie de Jong complicated matters.

Inigo Martinez, a centre-back for Athletic Bilbao who is 31 years old, is Barcelona’s first pick to replace the defensive gap left by the departure of Gerard Pique, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Although, Barca has more centre-back options; Villarreal and Argentina versatile player, Juan Foyth.

Barcelona needs players who can play in different areas when needed in order to strengthen their pack.

Aymeric Laporte, the 27-year-old defender has established himself in Spain while playing for Athletic Bilbao, where he made 200 appearances before moving on to Manchester City in 2018. He had a mixed season as he fell down Pep Guardiola’s team’s priority list and was his third option of center-back after John Stones and Ruben Dias.
