Be Encouraged And Prepared For The Students’ Week, Bunmi Awolusi Tell NIJ Students

Students of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos State are in high expectations as they prepare for the upcoming 2018 Students’ Week, which is scheduled to hold from Monday, 7 to Saturday, 12 May, 2018.

The Students’ Week with the theme, Light Up, is expected to broaden the minds of students on other areas of life beyond classroom activities.

Recall that the Institute recently concluded its 5th Convocation celebrations.

A statement released and sent to theeagle.com.ng, by the Students’ Week Chairman, Bunmi Awolusi, stated that there would be pre-students’ week activities between Tuesday, 2 and Saturday, 5, May.

The statement reads in part, “On May 2nd, we will donate some products and have a workshop at the Oregun Boys Correctional Center, Oregun.

“On May 4th, Some students will do community cleanup and simultaneously, some will be at the Federal Road Safety Corps junction controlling traffic for about 2 hours, between 7 and 9am.

“At 10am same day, we will have some Non-Governmental Organisations on ground and students of this school together will do a walk awareness against child abuse in Nigeria. This will also be widely spread via the media.

“There will be bonfire on May 5 in the evening and students week proper begins on May 7th – 12th. There are loads of activities for the week, which will be disseminated through the notice boards in the school”

However, she pleaded with students to be encouraged with preparation for the week and to pay for the vest (N2,000) as it would be used in the pre-students week activities, urging them to make use of the hashtag, #NIJSWLIGHTUP18 to promote the week on social media.
