Bayern, Tottenham, Two Other Clubs Interested In Villa’s Ramsey 

Jacob Ramsey, an attacking midfielder for Aston Villa, is apparently being pursued by a number of teams, including Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich.

The 22-year-old, who has grown to be a key component of Unai Emery’s plans at Aston Villa, is reportedly drawing a lot of interest from other teams that may theoretically be able to offer him better financial terms than the Villains, according to David Ornstein of the Athletic. Three teams are reportedly showing the most interest: Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Bayern Munich.

As per the report, Eddie Howe’s side has already made an approach for the midfielder but they will need to make an immediate sale if they want to sign Ramsey due to their issues with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability rules.

Despite the rumours, the Newcastle boss had a very up-front answer when asked about the reported interest in Ramsey [via Sky Sports]: “That’s incorrect.”

Bayern and Spurs are still interested in the situation, even though they haven’t made an approach yet. According to The Athletic, Villa may need to make big sales before June in order to avoid being subject to the same Profitability and Sustainability regulations that plague Nottingham Forest and Everton. They have also stated that because the club places a high value on Ramsey, a possible sale can only be reached if the bid exceeds £50 million ($63.5 million).

The Athletic finish by pointing out that Aston Villa has further options for obtaining money to guarantee that profit and sustainability standards are met in the event that the team chooses not to sell their star. One way to achieve this might be to sell Jhon Duran, who is linked to Chelsea. The Mauricio Pochettino squad is said to think highly of the 20-year-old, and they have discussed perhaps signing Duran.

Ramsey’s departure from the Villains appears improbable, at least not during the January transfer window, given the window’s sluggish closure and lacklustre performance thus far. After that, on Tuesday, January 30, Ramsey will play for Aston Villa against Newcastle United.
