Bayern Boss Tuchel Hails Kane As A Difference Maker After Man United Win

Harry Kane has been called a “difference maker” by Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel, who also said Manchester United did not play well enough in the Champions League.

Kingsley Coman’s goal in the second half gave Bayern a well-earned 1-0 victory at Old Trafford on Tuesday, advancing them to the next round of competition while United finished last in the group. With the vital assist for the victory, striker Kane now has 30 goal contributions this season across all competitions (22 goals and 8 assists). As a result, manager Tuchel praised the England captain and stated that, despite coming from a difficult pool that included Galatasaray and Copenhagen, one would “expect” a squad like the Red Devils to be contending to win their Champions League group.

In his post-match press conference, Tuchel said: “Harry [Kane] is always a difference maker – with his personality, calmness, and quality. The team knows that with Harry up front anything can happen in any minute. He can always assist, he can always score. He’s one of our top leaders.”

He added: “Manchester United is a huge club. When you see the group, you’d expect them to challenge for winning the group and reaching the round of 16. But from my experience, I can tell you we had a very difficult group. It now looks clear for us in terms of points and gap to the others, but all games were very tight and results were narrow. All teams were competitive with different styles of play.”

Bayern and United seem to be heading in separate directions. In the Champions League, the German team appears to be returning to its previous level of strength, and they are naturally a strong contender for the Bundesliga crown. In contrast, the Red Devils are completely out of Europe, with very little chance of contending in the Premier League, and manager Erik ten Hag is facing criticism for wanting to stay in his position.

On Sunday, United plays the Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield, while in the Bundesliga, Bayern hosts Stuttgart.
