Barca Vice President Hints At Possible Messi Return In January 

Eduard Romeu, Barca vice-president, says the club will give Lionel Messi a real tribute, but refused to speculate on a possible return to the team.

Messi first left Barcelona to join Paris Saint-Germain in 2021, and ever since then, rumours have circulated that he might return. The Argentine hero decided against going back to his old team in the summer and instead joined Inter Miami.

The possibility of Messi returning to Barca on loan has resurfaced as the MLS regular season draws to a close. This is especially true given that Inter Miami will not be able to participate in the postseason after the regular season. The transfer, though, has been ruled off due to Barcelona’s ongoing financial difficulties.

Once Camp Nou is open again, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will at the very least probably get an homage in front of the Barcelona supporters, and Romeu is certain that will happen.

“The only thing I would like, and the day and time will surely come, when the circumstances are favourable, is that we can pay him a great tribute,” he told he told L’Esportiu. “He deserves it and we’re really looking forward to it.

“The rest is a matter of speculation, we don’t even talk about this subject, because we have already talked about it too many times.”

In the upcoming week’s World Cup qualifying matches against Paraguay and Peru, Messi might play a part for Argentina.
