Barca Boss Xavi Facing Major Injury Crisis Ahead of Napoli UCL Clash
Sergi Roberto, the captain of Barcelona, has compounded Xavi ‘s injury concerns ahead of Tuesday’s crucial Champions League matchup with Napoli.
As Barca is without Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Gavu due to injuries, Roberto was expected to start in midfield against Napoli. Though Mundo Deportivo claims that the Spaniard’s lack of match sharpness means that the plan won’t come to pass when the Blaugrana take to the pitch on Tuesday evening. Oriol Romeu, Fermin Lopez, and Ilkay Gundogan are the only three healthy senior midfielders that Xavi has at his disposal due to the current circumstances.

Barcelona has battled with injuries throughout the entire season, especially in the midfield. This season, the team has only seen four players—Ilkay Gundogan, Oriol Romeu, Fermin Lopez, and Inaki Pena—avoid any injuries.
The team only recently suffered a double injury blow when they lost Pedri and De Jong during the first half of their match at San Mames versus Athletic Club.
The 32-year-old Roberto hasn’t really played before because of a lack of sharpness, but the medical staff gave him the all-clear prior to the opening leg against Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
