Bad News For Gunners! Gabriel Jesus Set To Start Against Argentina Despite Month-Long Injury Layoff

Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus, who is injured, is expected to start for Brazil against Argentina in their World Cup qualifying match, according to coach Fernando Diniz.

Jesus was called up by Brazil national team manager Fernando Diniz for their two crucial World Cup qualifying matches in November. Jesus has missed Arsenal’s last five games because of a hamstring injury.

The striker will play for his country on Wednesday against arch-rivals and defending world champions Argentina, even though he was not present for the Selecao’s first match in Colombia, where they lost 2-1.

According to globo.com, in a training session on Sunday at Granja Comary, Diniz deployed Gabriel Jesus in the attack in place of injured Vinicius Junior. He also fielded Carlos Augusto in place of left full-back Renan Lodi.

With just two wins from their first five matches in the World Cup qualifiers, the five-time champions are currently fifth and will aim to get back to winning ways at their home against the Argentines and climb up on the points table.

The Brazil manager promised Arsenal that he would take the best care of Jesus and that the striker would return to his team in even better shape after calling up Jesus to the national team.

The 26-year-old would want to play for the Gunners in their upcoming Premier League match, which is against Brentford on Saturday, after suiting up against Argentina in midweek.
