Ayu: PDP BoT To Meet Wike Over Crisis

The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will meet with Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt on Tuesday in a bid to address the issue that is roiling the party.

At noon, a meeting will be conducted at Port Harcourt’s State Government House.

On Tuesday morning, a senior party official in the state who did not want his name mentioned verified this to Theeagle.

“Yes, it is confirmed that the PDP BoT members will meet His Excellency, the Governor (Wike) today in Port Harcourt.

“You very well know what is happening in the parry, the issues and everything. So such meeting is crucial. That is all I can tell you,” he said.

The meeting is anticipated to include members of Wike’s team, the governors of Enugu, Abia, Benue, and Oyo States, as well as some of the most important PDP figures in the state.

Theeagle gathered that Governor Wike and a few governors from the South abstained from the party’s presidential nominee Atiku Abubakar’s campaign flag-off.

In light of this, it is anticipated that discussions at the summit would center on forging a consensus to appease Wike and his supporters as the election of 2023 draws nearer.

In order to promote equality and justice in the party, Governor Wike and four of his counterparts—now referred to as the “big five governors”—have united.

Their top demand is that Senator Iyorcha Ayu, the PDP national chairman, step down in order to make room for a southerner to succeed Atiku as the party’s nominee for president.
