Arsenal Make Big Decision To Sign Lionesses Goalkeeper Earps

Arsenal is expressing interest in Daphne van Domselaar of Aston Villa and may be “cooling” their interest in Manchester United keeper Mary Earps.

Arsenal tried to sign England’s top goalie during the World Cup last summer, but Manchester United rejected their offer. Arsenal may no longer be interested in signing Earps, according to The Telegraph, since they are instead focused on recruiting Daphne van Domselaar of Aston Villa.

Van Domselaar’s contract has a £200,000 release clause, and according to insiders, Arsenal have made the 24-year-old a top priority for their summer transfer window. The Dutch shot-stopper is regarded as one of the most talented in the sport right now and has been touted to become one of the best in the world. She signed a three-year deal with Aston Villa last year after leaving FC Twente and has been enjoying life in the Women’s Super League with the Villans.

Speaking to The Telegraph in February, the Dutch shot-stopper said: “I am really happy with my choice to join Aston Villa and join the WSL, which is the best league in the world. There’s a lot of potential in the team and I’m happy where I am right now. It’s a good team.”

The following two months will probably see more clarity about both players’ fates. Given that Earps’ Manchester United contract expires at the end of the current campaign, a decision regarding the stopper will undoubtedly need to be taken.
