APC Will Stick To Issues, Conduct Credible Campaign In 2023 - Keyamo

Festus Keyamo, the spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign, told Nigerians on Saturday that the ruling party will be devoted to issue-based campaigns for the 2023 presidential election.

In doing so, he made it clear that, despite the opposition parties’ methods, the APC will keep to its platform and conduct a credible campaign for the elections scheduled for next year.

Keyamo, who doubles as the minister of state for labor and productivity, provided the promise on his Twitter page on Saturday in reaction to remarks made by Dino Melaye, the spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organization, in a recent interview.

The minister pledged that the APC would avoid from disparaging the presidential candidates and parties of the opposition, saying that such behavior was a “sign of discontent.”

He wrote, “We’ll run a clean campaign. We’ll not use abusive words on our opponents & their spokespersons. We’ll refrain from calling those who Nigerians think & say they look stupid with their gaffs as such.

“Abuses on a campaign trail are a sign of frustration. We will stick to the issues.”

Keyamo had earlier said electing APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in 2023 will correct “the June 12, 1993 election anomaly”.

Chief M.K.O. Abiola, a late philanthropist, won the presidential election on June 12, 1993. However, the military junta led by Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (ret.) invalidated the election for several reasons.

Going back in time, Keyamo claimed that of the candidates aspiring to succeed President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd. ), only the former governor of Lagos State was leading the fight for the June 12 mandate.
