Amidst COVID-19, Oyo People Mourn Death Of Commissioner

Amidst the challenges of COVID-19, the the people of Oyo State are mourning following the passage of the state’s Commissioner for environment Mr Kehinde Ayoola,

The man died yesterday in a hospital where he has been battling an unknown disease since two weeks ago.

 A source told The Eagle that the death was somewhat a shock as the man drove himself to a hospital about two weeks ago where he was attending treatment amid the lockdown period.

  He recalled the activities of the deceased former Speaker of the State House of Assembly in 1999 when alhaji Lam Adeshina was governor,

He was later to be appointed Commissioner for environment in Governor Seyi Makinde’s Administration. 

 The deceased was a great politician who has followed the steps of the likes of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Dr Nnamdi Azikwe in making political impact in the state, the source further said.

Ayoola was one of the first batch of 14 Commissioners sworn into office on August 14, 2019 by Governor Makinde and was thereafter asked to man the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

The late Commissioner was born in Oyo town in January 1965 and attended St. Michael’s Primary School, Oke Ebo, Oyo, Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo and the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, where he studied Animal Science and Environmental Management and Control.

The Commissioner, had at the start of the Fourth Republic, served as the Speaker of the 4th Session of the Oyo State House of Assembly, under the administration of former Governor Lam Adesina, also of blessed memory.
