Aladeshoyin Admonishes On Wise Use Of New Police Station
By Paul Mbagwu
The paramount ruler of Odo-Noforija kingdom, Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja (JP), has admonished the Epe people on wise use of the newly constructed, ultra-modern police station sited in the kingdom, in the Epe Division, in Lagos State.
Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja made the admonition on the sidelines of the commissioning which was performed by the state governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, represented by the Commissioner of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr Oluseye Oladejo.
Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja however admonished the citizens of Epe to see the police as partners in curbing crime and attracting more socio-economic developments into the community.
“The police men are your friends. Community policing is very good and effective community policing is the only way to curtail all those criminal activities. So if you notice anything within your community, don’t be too afraid to go report to the police, he is your friend, and of course, they are there to protect you”, he admonished the people.
He emphasized on the need for vigilance and collaboration with security agencies, especially as people of different characters and origins were now migrating into Epe, attracted by the developments that had taken place in the area in the last three years of the Ambode administration.
“Again, there has to be some elements of trust between the police and citizens; the synergy and recipe that we have seen and experienced so far, is no doubt has ushered in community policing to Epe. We welcome this, and just hope to have more in that community, because Epe is such a very big area now, so we need more police stations. This is the reason we are proposing that this particular one be made an area command”, he said.
