After Visiting Kanu In Sokoto, Abia Governor, Otti Speaks

After visiting detained leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu in Sokoto, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has spoken.

Kanu is being held at the Sokoto Correctional Centre, having been convicted on all seven charges he faced, including terrorism and was sentenced for life.

But upon returning from visiting the incarcerated separatist leader, Otti said:

“We are going back with the memories that Sokoto is a land of hospitality and we are so happy to see our brother, our son, Nnamdi Mazi Kanu, who has also become a son to me by reason of circumstances that happened.

“We are happy that you people are taking care of him, and I pray that God will continue to bless Sokoto State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the good brotherhood and for the love we all have for each other,” Otti added.

“Thank you very much.”

The Eagle reports that the presiding judge in Kanu’s case, Justice James Omotosho said he was satisfied that Kanu was guilty as charged.

He said the IPOB leader made a series of broadcasts to incite violence and killings, and that he actually knew what he was doing:

His other words at the sentencing were:

“Mr Kanu knew what he was doing, he was bent on carrying out these threats without consideration to his own people.

“From the incontroverted evidence, it is clear that the defendant carried out preparatory act of terrorism.

“He had the duty to explain himself but failed to do so.”

It is believed that after visiting Kanu in Sokoto, that Otti was now in a better position to possibly address his kinsmen what next to do.
