Afemai Sons And Daughters Celebrate New Year In Grand Style

January 1, 2021 provided a unique opportunity for the group – The Afemai Sons and Daughters (ASD), both home and abroad, to take stock of activities on the outgone year.

And in difference to the mood of the times, the event held virtually on the group’s Facebook platform.

The fast-rising ASD Facebook platform was created on April 29, 2020 by Victor Inobehme, an Afemai son who resides in Germany.

With “Afemai to the world”, as slogan, the purpose was for the re-uniting of Afemai people regardless of the distance and promoting the culture of the land.

Afemai are ethnic groups living in the northern part of Edo State south geopolitical zone of Nigeria and they occupy six local governments of Edo state thus: Etsako West With Headquarter In Auchi; Etsako East with headquareter at Agenebode; Etsako Central with headquarter at Fugal, and Owan East at Afuze, Owan West at Sabongida And Akoko Edo Igarra.

The live programme started exactly at 4pm and lasted about 4hours with lot of fun and powerful messages from some prominent members of the group.

In difference to the mixed religion of the members, a Pastor, Phillips IK and an Imam , Mallam Abdulwasis llyas took turns to shower prayers on the members Afemai Sons and Daughters a glorious year ahead.

At the background of the thanksgiving, were the several achievements made by ASD in the past 8months, as read out by one of the moderators in the group, Mary Omokhagbor.

These included effectively uniting Afemai sons and daughters, promoting the culture of the land, providing financial support where needed; empowering 10 members last year August with 20k each as business start-up; not only , that some are enjoying blissful marriages after meeting life partners in the group.

Other interventions by the group, included medical assistance and free consultation in health matters.

For example, Dr Emy Momoh hosts Chat Wih The Doctor, every Sunday on the group platform; Family Matters is anchoredby Edith Isidahomen, while Singles Corner is coordinated by Irene James, not forgetting Controversial Issues also handled by Mary Omokhagbor.

In the area of philanthropy, Emmanuel  from Iyuku, Etsako West, who had hole in the heart was also recalled in the programme  obtaining financial support of almost N2million for a heart surgery, with support of some philanthropists in the group.

Some other kind-hearted people who did one thing or another in the spirit of support, philanthropy and solidarity included Prince Cosmo Sado, the MD of Amsterdam@Home Hotel; they reached out to the less privileged, especially widows.

The regular vacancy posting, job placement advisories, give aways, which have helped in one way or another to bring bonding and boost membership were also recalled.

A leadership coach, Ochuwa Momoh George (Phd) also joined the live broadcast all the way from The United States of America, encouraging the members to start the year with gratitude to God and also learn how appreciate people who had been part of their 2020 journey.

Also, a relationship specialist, Lina Jimah connected to the live broadcast from California giving motherly advice to both singles and married, eventually praying for well-being in 2021.

Others who graced the live programme were two fast-rising musicians from Afemai land Zeezy Waziri and Judeworldstar.

Viewing members, using the comments box, expressed thanks to God first and the Administrator, Victor Inobehme for the great initiative.

In his closing remarks, Inobehme expressed appreciation to the management of ASD, all the supporters from all over the world, stating that several projects had been lined up for execution in the new year.
