A suspected cult leader is now biting his fingers in regret after finding out that what his friend used to influence his joining the outlawed group is actually a bogey promise.
Emmanuel Nwokolo identified by the police as a chairman of Aiye Confraternity, made this revelation and more upon his arrest by the uniformed forces.
The police had acted on the heels of a wave of violent clashes in Ajangbadi and neighbouring communities in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State before closing in on Nwokolo and his group, which before now had been linked with a string of terror operations.
The police says those operations accounted for more than 10 killings in Ajangbadi, Shibiri and Ilogbo axis, aside recurring rival cult clashes and reprisal attacks.
Residents link him and his gang to periodic spikes in violence from supremacy battles relating to such symbolic dates as May 5 (5/5), June 6 (6/6) and July 7 (7/7)
His arrest alongside Ayoola Israel, Ebuka Nnamdi and Chinedu Okafor followed a coordinated operation by the Lagos State Police Command Tactical Squad in Ajangbadi on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Tijani.
“Yes, I am a member of the Aiye cult group. I am into internet business”, Nwokolo confessed to the police.
“I was introduced to the Aiye Confraternity by my friend, Hurry, who is now late. He told me to join the NBM if I wanted to make it in life, but I have not seen any improvement since I joined.

“I only participated in the killing of four people. The first was Soweto, a member of the Eiye Confraternity. We lured him under the pretence of buying hard drugs. Four of us, Emma, Paragon, Santa and myself, carried out the operation. I was the one recording the killing.
“There was another person we killed because his group allied with Eiye. David identified him. The third victim was also an Eiye member. Emma and David usually identified our targets.
“Whenever we carried out these killings, I could not sleep. It haunted me emotionally.”
Police said aside Nwokolo, other terror gangs and cult groups operating in the local government, would soon enter security net following ongoing police crackdown.
Investigators linked Nwokolo as a deadly cult leader whose gang operations have resulted to more than 10 killings across the affected communities. Nwokolo allegedly admitted participating in the killing of four persons, all said to be members of rival cult groups, in the course of interrogations.
