Container Accident Renders Ikorodu Road Impassable

Ikorodu Road, onward Yaba Lagos remained impassable the better part of this morning, following a container accident.

The accident which occurred around the Palm Grove-Onipanu stretch of the expressway, caught a lot of motorists and passengers unawares.

A container fell off the truck conveying it, and though there was no loss to life, the accident obstructed free flow of traffic.

As at the time our correspondent got to the spot, cranes were sighted attempting to lift the container off the highway.

Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), as well as security agents were on ground trying to restore normalcy to the road, however, the road onwards towards remained impassable.

Motorists were being diverted to service lane to ease the pressure facing Yaba, Lagos Island and Surulere-bound traffic.

While most vehicles remained trapped, some drivers resorted to maneuvering to get away from the spot of the container accident.

Our correspondent later learnt that the container had been removed, while free flow of traffic had been restored.
