‘We Are Solidly Behind Ladoja As Chairman Of Oyo Council Of Obas’

We are solidly behind the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja to become chairman of Oyo Council of Obas.

This unwavering support is coming from the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olushola Alao.

He has told the state governor Engr Seyi Makinde not to lose sleep whether or not members of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs will rally round the Olubadan.

Speaking while receiving the governor in audience at his palace in Orile-Igbon, he said Oba Ladoja would enjoy the support of council members across the five zones of the state as follows: Ibadan, Oyo, Ogbomoso, Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa.

In the words of Oba Alao, who is the deputy chairman of the council:

“The Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs has now been re-inaugurated, and we have a new chairman in the person of His Excellency, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

“I want to assure Your Excellency that we are all one in the council. We are united across the five zones – Ogbomoso, Ibadan, Oyo, Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa. People may say things, but we are members of one united family.”

Responding, the governor said, “I came here over what happened in Oloka. I have visited there and assured them that their government will not fail them. The people own this government. I am also assuring the people of Surulere Local Government and everyone in Ogbomoso Zone that development projects will spread across all five local governments in Ogbomoso Zone. I only ask for your cooperation.”

The traditional rulers who joined the Olugbon were the Aresapa of Iresa Pupa, Oba Moses Ajiboye; the Aranyin of Iranyin, Oba Lasisi Olagbemileke; the Olujado of Ijado, Oba Hammed Adegbile; and the Iba Abogunde, Tajudeen Aminullahi.

meanwhile, The Eagle reports that the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, had denied assertions that Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde consulted with him in choosing Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, Arusa I, as chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.

He has said also that he did not endorse the rotational chairmanship arrangement for the same office.

The Alafin stated this position in a statement issued last Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Bode Durojaiye.
