How Omniversity Imperial College Is Midwifing A Silent Education Revolution

Right inside the quiet neighborhood of Olowosokedile Estate at Iju-Ishaga, Ifako Local Government Area of Lagos State, an ambitious education revolution is taking form.

The initiative of an educationist himself, in the person of Professor Tokunbo Akeredolu-Ale, it is, not just a multi-arm learning initiative, but one with a promise to change the knowledge acquisition, certification and application narrative in the in the country.

Course curricula are well developed, faculty well in place and learning customised to respond to each scholar’s peculiar needs;  in fact, the way many would expect it overseas.

An interactive session last Saturday, of the Guild of Public Affairs Analysts of Nigeria (GPAN), led by president, Mr Oyoze Baje with amiable visionary and president/Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT), Professor Tokunbo Akeredolu-Ale, brought out this much, and more.

It turned out an opener, being a highly promising area yet unexplored arm of the education sector.

It became obvious yet again, that so much benefit lie untapped in the Nigerian knowledge sector, while many people keep falling over one another following conventional ladders of learning.

The world’s only first ISO (International Organisation of Standardisation)-certified university, it began by first seeking and obtaining the requisite papers, first from the Lagos State Ministry of Tertiary Education, its primary place of operation,  and next, global accreditations and affiliations which not only enrich its students’ learning, but positions it competitively in the world.

Suffice to inform that the school is a child of necessity which not only saw gaps in the education sector, but went ahead to fill it.
