Behold, New Olubadan Of Ibadan; Tables 1st Request Before Tinubu
A former Governor of Oyo State, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, today formally adorned the regalia of Ibadan ultimate royalty, after being crowned the Olubadan of Ibadan.
The 44th Olubadan on the throne, the crowing was cemented with a presentation to him, of the Staff of Office by Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, who described Lagoja’s emergence as a source of pride to the people of Ibadan
“The joy and excitement that fill Ibadan today remind us of the importance of upholding our cherished traditions”, the governor said.
These had been preceded by performance of some rites, including the placing of leaves on the head of Oba Ladoja .
The rite was performed by Afobaje of Ibadanland, Chief Waheed Popoola, paving the way for the rest of the coronation activities.
The new monarch, while addressing the people, quickly made a profound request on President Bola Tinubu, asking that the proposed Ibadan state be made a reality.
The Eagle reports that the lawmaker representing Ibadan South East/North East, Abass Adigun Agboworin, had last July sponsored a bill for the creation of Ibadan state at the National Assembly.

As symbolic as it was, the ceremony attracted a wide spectrum of distinguished personalities from within and beyond Yoruba land.
The roll call included the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III; former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi as well as former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke.
Others were former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, as well as former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
