Dino Melaye Publicises 1st Court Appearance In Lawyers’ Wig

Persuasive public speaker and former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye made history today, in his first court appearance in lawyers’ wig.

Stepping into legal practice, indeed marks the beginning of another phase of life for the outspoken lawmaker

Dino Melaye is expected to carry his impressive public speaking competences to the law courts, having now been called to the bar.

The former Kogi senator appeared before Justice Emeka Nwite at Court 8 of the Federal High Court, Abuja, marking his debut since being called to the Nigerian Bar.

Breaking the news on his verified Facebook page today, the former senator wrote: “Senator Dino Melaye at the Federal High Court Abuja today.

“Appeared before Justice Emeka Nwite of Court 8,”

The former lawmaker was among over 5,000 new lawyers called to the Bar in Abuja in early July, following his completion of a law degree at Baze University.

The Eagle reports that the Body of Benchers, responsible for the solemn call to bar ceremony, had announced earlier that “All distinguished Benchers and Aspirants to the Bar should kindly note that the Call to Bar Ceremony for successful candidates at the November 2024 Bar Final Examination are scheduled to take place”  from Tuesday, 8 to Thursday, 10 July 2025

Note that Aspirants will be identified with their Nigerian Law School ID card and are entitled to One Guest Only, who shall be issued an Invitation Card prior to the date of Call”.
