Unauthorised Posting Of Picture: Jennifer Lopez Sued $300k

American actress and singer Jennifer Lopez has been sued $300k for allegedly sharing her copyrighted photographs without permission
The photographs, from the 2025 Golden Globe Awards were shared on her social media accounts, according to a report on Billboard.
The famous and controversial performer had attracted attention after she posted photos from an event, captioned “GG Weekend Glamour.” The images quickly spread online, like wild fire.
They were taken when she appeared on the red carpet in a flowing white gown with a matching white fur coat, last January 5.
Photographer Edwin Blanco and his agency, Backgrid, have filed a copyright infringement lawsuit, claiming Lopez posted two of their photos without proper authorisation. They are seeking $150,000 per image, totaling $300,000 in damages.
They argued that Lopez used the images to promote her fashion brands and partnership deals without proper authorisation.
“Ms Lopez’s unauthorised use of the Images is commercial in nature, intended for the purpose of self-promotion,” the lawsuit reads.

“For example, Ms Lopez used the Images to spotlight the designer of her clothing and jewellery, leveraging the publicity from the event to promote her fashion affiliations and brand partnerships.”
According to reports, the suit also claims that her representatives had previously agreed to licensing terms, but Lopez has yet to finalise the agreement.
This is not Jennifer Lopez first legal dispute over image rights.
She faced similar lawsuits in 2019 and 2020 for posting professional photos without the photographer’s permission.
