Ojerinde’s Milk Of Human Kindness Flows In Ogba, Amidst Islamic Lectures

For many Muslims in the Ifako Ijaiye area of Lagos, there couldn’t have been a better way to observe the ongoing Islamic fasting season than what happened on Abeokuta Street Ogba, Lagos yesterday.

There, a proud son of the soil, Hon Akeem Ojerinde, who is legislative aid to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, organised an Islamic lecture on the one hand, and also distributed palliatives to support the vulnerable in this season of economic hardship.

The lecture was the first in memory of his late elder brother, Abdullateef Oladipupo Ojerinde, initiated by his Team NANA to honour the legacy of the dead, by reflecting on the transient nature of life, and the power of forgiveness.

Expectedly, the event which would henceforth, hold annually, brought together Islamic scholars, leaders and community members, availing them the opportunity of an insightful lecture, prayers and the distribution of Ramadan palliatives.

It was moderated by a handful of Islamic clerics led by Sheik Idris Rufal Oladipupo.

Dwelling on the theme of Vanity Of Life and Forgiveness Sheik Idris Rufal Oladipupo who led other Islamic clerics to the event, brought a sober dimension to it all, by deploying a lot of Islamic idioms and recitations to convey his messages.

Displaying deep understanding of the topic of the day, he admonished the living to prioritise godliness, kindness and love for others while alive.

Sheik’s standpoint of a life of purity and impact, was a reference point for all other clerics who made brief contributions in the course of the lecture segment.

This was even as Sheik Oladipupo prayed that Hon Ojerinde, would enjoy the health of mind and life to sustain the noble initiative he berthed.

Another cleric, Sheu Ibrahim Akerele deepened the sober reflection, when he admonished the congregants to look down to the ground on which they stood.

As they did, he reminded them that everyone was headed there some day, an understanding that should help them to structure their lives righteously while on earth.

The Royal Father of the Day, Oba Umar Hamzat Olu Afowowa who patiently sat through the entire duration in honour of the host, also took time to admonish the guests.

He re-echoed the vanity of life here on earth, and the need to live it with purpose and impact.

With the lecture segment wound down, it was time to move to the humanitarian impact segment of the programme – the distribution of palliatives.

The Team NANA group members took vantage positives, announcing the tags that had earlier been distributed and handing out palliatives packages to the people, majorly, the elderly, widows and other vulnerable persons.

In an after-event interaction with our correspondent, Hon Ojerinde expressed satisfaction that the event held successfully.

He thanked both members of the organising committee, the clerics, the entire neigbourhood and all others who played one role or another to ensure a success of the day’s twin events.

The Eagle recalls that there was indeed a full house of constituents to attend to.

There was also an obvious proof of planning by the Team NANA members, given the seamless mobilisation and distribution of the palliatives.

Though the programme proper was billed for 1pm, they had graced the venue early enough putting plans to action.

Evidence of the event could be seen all around, by beneficiaries, lifting home the packgages that had come from the Hon Akeem Ojerinde palliative.
