There is no respite yet for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central ) as she has come under the lashing of President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

Akpabio’s latest swipe on the senator, who has been slammed with a controversial six-month suspension happened during plenary on Tuesday.

The Senate president said Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions and attitude may discourage politicians from appointing women to high-ranking positions in Nigeria.

“When this issue began, she initially brought it to the Senate through a petition but did not allow the chamber to deliberate on it before taking it to court.

“Even then, she did not allow the court to address it before escalating the matter to the international community.”

Akpabio also drew a parallel between the faceoff between him and  Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, and a hypothetical scenario whereby former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris could accuse President Joe Biden of sexual assault for simply shaking her hand or guiding her through the White House.

“If such an allegation were made, it would create a precedent where no woman would ever be chosen as vice president again.”
