PSG manager, Luis Enrique has no issue substituting Kylian Mbappe early in the Champions League against Real Sociedad this week.

In a press conference on Monday, Luis Enrique stated that he is not opposed to taking Mbappe off the pitch early in the match, as has been the case in previous Ligue 1 matches, in preparation for the return leg against Real Sociedad in the Champions League last 16.

Asked “Are you going to manage Kylian Mbappe in the same way in the Champions League?”, Luis Enrique replied: “Yes, of course, why not?”

Mbappe hasn’t participated in a complete Ligue 1 game since playing 90 minutes and scoring in PSG’s 2-0 victory in the first leg against Real Sociedad. He started the game on the bench and scored in the victory over Nantes, but was replaced at halftime in the goalless draw with Rennes the following weekend, and again after 65 minutes in the match against Monaco. It coincides with Mbappe’s plan to depart PSG in the summer.

Although the entire football community would be shocked if Mbappe didn’t sign with Real Madrid, he hasn’t yet disclosed which club he will play for. The 25-year-old will be focused on winning his final opportunity to play in the Champions League with his hometown team in the interim. Prior to travelling overseas, Mbappe is rumoured to be eager to compete for France at the Olympics on home ground.
