These Tenants Taught Others A Lesson In The New Year

Tenants at No 7, Ijeun Street, Cement Bus Stop in Ikeja area of Lagos may have taught other tenants elsewhere a lesson in the New Year, without knowing it.

They put aside petty misunderstandings and differences and exchanged foods with one another thanking God for grace to survive 2020.

The rare show of accommodation held on the very first day of 2021, bringing cheer amongst the tenants as they congratulated one another and welcomed the new year.

It was not clear who or what triggered the action, but The Eagle correspondent who witnessed the rare show of accommodation, decided to find out what actually motivated the tenants’ action.

One of them, Mrs Charity Yusuf said her action was motivated by an appreciation of seeing another year, despite the challenges of the past year.

“The rice is not enough for my family but I have to give people around me because is not easy to see a New Year”.

Mrs faith Marcus, also speaking said: “I thank God almighty for the privilege of seeing 2021 and I exchanged food with my neighbors because the Bible said, ‘love your neighbor as you love yourself’ and this is the right time to do so. I pray by next year 2022, I will have more to share”, she added.

Also bringing her viewpoint, Mrs love Ihesiaba said the food they shared with one another was mainly a sign of love.

She added, “my pot is not out from the fire but I have eaten two plates of food which I received from my neighbors these morning” 

A Bachelor in the compound Mr. Tola Adeyemi said to our correspondent: ” I was in my room when my neighbor Mrs Faith Marcus came to my door with plate of rice and drink.

“I did not cook due to my work but am happy to say that I enjoyed today likewise other bachelors in the compound”.

Speaking, Mrs Rose Nwachukwu said festivals time provided an opportunity for the tenants to show love and care to one other because, according to her, “there re some people who passed away in 2020 while some were still in hospital.

“But we thank God for the gift of life; despite all the challenges, we overcame”, she added.
