Peter Obi

Arguably, Peter Obi‘s loss at the 2023 General Elections is one of the most discussed topics, politically. His movement, ‘Obidient’ kicked off as a worthy contender in the race to change the status quo in the Nigerian political structure.

However, he lost to President Tinubu, having secured over 6 million votes across the nation.

Atiku Abubakar

The former vice-president of Nigeria also took a tremendous blow to his political career during the 2023 General Elections.

His wave as the presidential flagbearer for the second-largest political party in Nigeria (PDP) laid him in the second position at the polls.

Although, he challenged the outcome at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) and Supreme Court but failed as the court dismissed his petitions.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour

Rhodes-Vivour, like his mentor, Peter Obi, challenged the political status quo, just that he was pulled off at the state level. He lost to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who contested for his second term.

Dino Melaye

The Peoples Democratic Party’s Kogi governorship flagbearer, Dino Melaye lost his local government to Ahmed Ododo of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The result declared by the LG Returning officer, Dr Samuel Obasan showed that APC won the local government area with 10,524 votes followed by PDP with 6,909 votes, while ADC came third with 1,898 votes and the SDP secured 356 votes

Nasir El-Rufai

President Tinubu proposed the former Kaduna State governor for a position as federal minister, but the Senate rejected him during confirmation due to security-related concerns.

Once El-Rufai informed Tinubu that he was not interested in the job again, he withdrew his nomination and nominated his former commissioner.

Afterward, reports surfaced claiming that certain powerful politicians funded the security report on El-Rufai.

Samuel Ortom

Ortom, a prominent member of the G5, a group of five resentful governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lost to Titus Zam of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area in the National Assembly race for the Benue North West Senatorial area.

Ben Ayade

Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe of the PDP defeated Ayade with 76,145 votes, while the former governor, who had hoped to return to the Senate after serving as governor for eight years, received 56,595.
