30 Most Expensive Football Transfers Of All Time
Prior to the 2023–24 season, the summer transfer window was quite active, with several moves making the top 30.

In the summer of 2017, Paris Saint-Germain shocked the football world when they acquired Kylian Mbappe from Monaco and Neymar from Barcelona.

However, there is no disputing that PSG’s astonishing double swoop significantly inflated the transfer market. They still rank as the two most expensive players of all time.

In fact, a flurry of significant transactions followed, with Barcelona paying nine-figure sums to bring in players like Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho, and Antoine Griezmann in an effort to fill the vacuum left by Neymar. Joao Felix, a promising attacking talent from Benfica, was shelled out €126 million by Atletico Madrid, while Eden Hazard was finally brought to Real Madrid for €100 million.

The Covid-19 pandemic temporarily had a significant impact on the transfer market, but within a few seasons, several clubs, particularly in England, had recovered. Since 2021, many players, including Declan Rice, Enzo Fernandez, Jack Grealish, Jadon Sancho, Mykhailo Mudryk, Antony, Darwin Nunez, and Moises Caicedo, have been recruited by Premier League clubs for significant sums of money.

Could the existing transfer record therefore be surpassed soon? Undoubtedly, it appears feasible. However, Neymar continues to be at the top of the list of the 30 most expensive players in history for the time being…
