2023 Nigeria General Elections Timetable And Schedule Updated

The 2023 Nigeria general elections is but barely a week away, and Nigerians from all walks and ethnicities would be exercising their franchises.

We are presenting with this report, the 2023 Nigeria general elections time table updated. It is with a view to educating the electorates and guiding the generality of Nigerians on the schedule of events in a few days from now.

The election, like all other elections, is key for the country, as it would determine who and who hold the reins of power for the next eight years. That implies that the fate of Nigeria and Nigerians, politically, economically and socially is about being set again.

The Eagle reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had had to tinker with the 2023 Nigeria general elections time table in view of realities in the polity.

From initial commencement date of February 18, 2023, the INEC had reviewed logistics shifting the date to Saturday, 25th February 2023.

Apparently anticipating reactions and firming up its grounds as the main umpire for the polls, it cited extant rules for its action. That citation is predicated on Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The Eagle reports that that section says the electoral body must issue the notice of election not later than 360 days before the election date.

On the heels of the February 25 election is the governorship polls billed for the following Saturday, March 11, 2023.

Aside the governorship candidates that would be slugging it out that day, those seeking seats in the different state assemblies would also be contesting against one another.

Generally, the election promises to be highly competitive, especially beginning from the presidency where candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu; that of the Labour Party (:P), Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) appear to be frontliners.
