Why Obi Is One Of Nigeria’s Best Presidential Candidates – Ortom

Peter Obi, the presidential nominee of the Labour Party, has been hailed as Nigeria’s best candidate by Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.

Upon Obi’s arrival in Makurdi, the capital of Benue state, following his visit to the state’s flood victims, Ortom made this claim.

One of the best presidential contenders for the general elections in 2023, in Ortom’s opinion, is Obi.

Obi has the power to free Nigeria from its economic and security problems, according to Ortom.

“If Nigeria needs to make a choice, you are one of the finest candidates that we have in this country. In terms of education, in terms of character, in terms of performance, in terms of reaching out, in terms of being a pan-Nigerian, in terms of industrialisation, passion to ensure that our country is liberated from where we are; out of insecurity to security, and out of economic woes to economic vibrancy and out of lack to adequate social life, you have the capacity to make things work,” he said.

Party affiliation or ethnicity shouldn’t be factors in the presidential election in February, according to Ortom, but rather a candidate’s ability to get Nigeria out of “the mess.”

He further stated, “And Peter Obi from your antecedents, you have the capacity. If I were God, I would have said everything but I am not God.”

Ortom asserted that nobody in authority can prevent whoever God chooses to be the next president of Nigeria.

Obi had earlier said the ‘deal’ he has with some aggrieved PDP governors including Ortom is to achieve a better Nigeria.

Obi previously stated that the goal of his “agreement” with several resentful PDP governors, including Ortom, is to make Nigeria a better place.

Recall that Ortom has repeatedly demanded the resignation of PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, as a condition for supporting PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, along with Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia).

Since then, the five governors have abstained from Atiku’s rallies.

However, it is unclear whether the PDP governors who feel mistreated will back Obi or Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
