Why Man Utd Boss Pushed For Hojlund Signing

Rasmus Hojlund, a Danish forward, was acquired by Manchester United from Atalanta this summer for a fee of £72 million ($92 million).

Despite Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, personally trying to convince Hojlund to sign with his team, the forward was adamant about playing this season at Old Trafford because he grew up a Man United fan.

Erik ten Hag, the current manager of the Red Devils, was confident of Hojlund’s potential because he respected the striker’s demeanour on the game, his aptitude for good pressing, and of course his goal-scoring skill. According to The Athletic, the Dutchman strongly pushed the team to pursue the 20-year-old and complete the transaction.

The striker never seriously considered moving to Paris, despite PSG’s initial €50 million offer being on the table. Even video sessions with Ten Hag during which the Dutchman described his responsibilities at Old Trafford helped persuade the striker to sign with the Premier League team.

Hojlund has made three appearances and two starts for the Red Devils since joining the team. When he next steps onto the pitch on Saturday against Burnley in the Premier League, he will be hoping to add to his one goal for the team.
