Why Man Stabbed His Mother, Set Both Of Them On Fire

What could make a man who had no established case of mental insanity stab his own mother and then proceed to setting both of them on fire?

That was the first poser that confronted the people of Umudagu Mbieri, in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State where such an incident just took place.

The community was stirred yesterday when the news broke that the man they know very well as, Johnbosco Ejiogu had stabbed his mother Pauline Ejiogu, and not only that attempted to setting himself alight.

However, preliminary investigation by police has revealed that the man’s action was an outcome of the altercation he had with his mother, which ostensibly produced utterances he could not bear, so he decided to take drastic action.

It was not however immediately clear whether it had to do with money or relationship, but the police was quick in arriving the scene, stopping both action from exacting maximum damage.

But that was not before Johnbosco’s body had received scars from the fire, while he looked so dazed.

The Eagle learnt that it took the quick intervention of neigbours with the police, that otherwise, the matter would have gone out of hand.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Orlando Ikeokwu, was quoted on the matter as saying:  “Both of them have been taken to the hospital.

“On the 24/4/2020, at about 1020 hrs, operatives of Mbieri Divisional hqtrs, while reacting to a distress call arrested the above-named suspect and rescued the above victim.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the said Johnbosco Ejiogu stabbed his mother Pauline Ejiogu as a result of an altercation.

“He went further to lock the door behind himself and the victim, and then set the house ablaze, but they were rescued alive sequel to the swift reaction of the officers and men of the Division and the members of the neighbourhood.

“However, Both of them have been taken to the hospital for treatment, while investigation has commenced.”, Vanguard quoted the police spokesman as saying.
