Stay Off All University, Poly Campuses, NANS Warns Ekiti Gov’s Wife

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has warned the wife of the governor of Ekiti State, Mrs Bisi Fayemi to stay off all campuses of higher institutions in the country.

The position was contained in a statement signed by NANS  national public relations officer,  Comrade Azeez Adeyemi and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The two students were victims of a protest that took place last Tuesday.

The student body called for an investigation into the death of the two students, describing Mrs Fayemi’s account of the event that led to the deaths as misleading.

According to Adeyemi, the killing of the students was a “State planned assassination”, calling on the federal government to probe the murder.

“We read yesterday with dismay, the reaction of the suspected assailant where she made baseless claims but for us as students and young people who are have what it takes to fight her, considering the volume of our population, we know that God almighty is the biggest Judge and will dispense judgement as due to her.

“Firstly, the Ekiti first lady said she was in the hall when the student started rampaging and allegedly destroying people’s vehicle. This statement is too sweet to be true; can such riot act be going on outside a hall to the extent that people’s vehicles were being damaged and the owners of the vehicles remained calm in the hall?

“Secondly as the first lady, she claimed to remain in the hall while the damages were being done, why not address the students instead of ignoring them, if truly she wasn’t wishing and praying evil prayers for the students. If truly she regards the students as her children why not speak to them instead of ordering the police to open fire on them.” the statement read in parts.

The association, however, doused the tension of the students, assuring that it would pursue justice in the case.
