Revealed: 7 Nigerian States Where Commuters Pay Highest Transport Fares

Do you know the 7 states in Nigeria where commuters pay the highest transportation fares commuting from one location to another?
A current survey of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed this and other interesting scenarios.
Verdict from its transport fare watch for the month of August has shown that you will pay the highest amount in fare commuting Intracity in Zamfara.
It is as high as N1,155.52, as against Adamawa or Oyo where Intracity bus commuting costs as N455.33 and N723.91 respectively.
Closely behind Zamfara are Ondo and Gombe where Intracity commuting by bus cost N1065.20 and N1015.90 respectfully.
The table below shows the rest of the 7 states where commuters pay highest transportation fares and the amount they pay.

On the other hand, the states where Intracity commuting by bus costs the list are as follows:
1. Adamawa N455.33

The Eagle checks shows that fieldwork is done solely by over 700 NBS Staff in all States of the federation supported by supervisors
who are monitored by internal and external observers.

According to the bureau, “Prices are collected across all the 774 local governments across all States and the FCT from over 10,000
respondents and locations and reflect actual fare households state they actually paid for those services.
“The average of all these fares is then reported for each state and the average for the country is the average for the state.
NBS audit team subsequently conducts randomly selected verification of fares recorded”, it said.
