Real Madrid Star Set To Undergo Surgery After ACL Tear
Caroline Weir, who was representing Scotland on an international level, will now need surgery after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament.
The 28-year-old was removed from the Tuesday night Nations League match between Scotland and Belgium at Hampden Park due to a knee injury. Pedro Martinez Losa, the manager of Scotland, acknowledged that she was “very angry” over the physical abuse the midfield received during the game, which ended in a 1-1 draw. After 20 minutes, Weir made an effort to keep playing before being removed from the pitch.

Real Madrid have now revealed Weir has ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments in her left knee and will have surgery “in the coming days” before starting a protracted period of rehabilitation.
Weir’s extended rehabilitation after surgery will keep her from playing for a while, which will be a setback for both club and nation.
