Player Slumps, Dies During Football Tournament

There was a tragic twist to a football tournament in Osogbo yesterday after a player participating in the competition, slumped and died.
The deceased said to be a player of the Ilesa West Local Government Area football team, reportedly slumped on the field and was rushed to a hospital.
He was however confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.
The death has been confirmed by the Osun State Police Command, mentioning the name as Adeyemi Adewale.
The Command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, in a statement made available to journalists, in Osogbo confirmed the incident.

e“Today, (Thursday) while the Adeleke Memorial Cup Final match was going on at Ataoja School of Science, one Adeyemi Adewale ‘M’ 29yrs, a player of Ilesa West Football team, slumped on the pitch.
“He was rushed to the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead by a doctor.”
Opalola, who said the investigation had commenced into the matter, added that the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the Uniosun Teaching Hospital morgue.
The Eagle reports that a football tournament would typically be a hunting ground for talents, hence the popularity across the length and breadth of the country.
