Insecurity: Youth Democratic Party Urges FG To Stabilise Electricity

The coordinator of the Ogun State Chapter of the proposed Youth Democratic Party of Nigeria, (YDPN),  Mr. Olufemi Ajadi, has advised the Federal Government to stabilise electricity and curb insecurity in the Nation. 

Ajadi, who spoke after presiding a meeting of the party held at his Ogun domain, said the federal government should compliment its prepaid meter distribution scheme by ensuring the availability of electricity.

He said a  radical approach was needed towards ensuring power availability which he described as very important to maintaining the welfare of the citizens.

Ajadi said the level of crime was bound to reduce drastically, should electricity become stable in the country.

He told The Eagle correspondent afterwards, that even though the YDPN has not been accredited by the Independent National Electoral Commission, it had been registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), adding that the youths were still within their jurisdiction as Nigerians to advise the federal government on security and other national issues. 

“The Army should be asked to go back to the barracks but to be invited for national insecurity like national terrorist attacks while the Police should handle civil cases like communal crises, kidnapping, robbery; bandits; criminality; cultism and other unlawful assaults.”

“The federal government should allow the formation of state police and mounting of CCTV cameras in all Embassies; Airports; Check Points; all gathering places like international passport offices and Boarders that link other countries to Nigeria and availability of patrol vans for security personnel on highways. 

“Creation of central monitoring room for all communication networks. Whoever calls or receives calls in any part of the country will be monitored in this central unit. With this, kidnappers could be easily tracked when communicating with the victim’s family. 

“Stability of electricity is very important. The Federal Government should work with local and foreign investors for the initiation of a stable power supply to light up the bandits; kidnappers and robbers’ dens and to also make free movement for citizens without fear. 

“Monitoring the local made and importation of ammunition; codeine drugs to alleviate the involvement of Youths in the illegal usage of both. 

“All cybercafes must be registered and be monitored by the centrally controlled room at the Capital of the Nation and annex in each state of the country,” he said.

He also said that the Federal Government could not build something on anything. So, the security and combatant personnel should be financially and intelligently equipped to make the aforementioned tasks possible.
