Air Peace Crew Had Shut The Door Before The Engines Went Off Completely, There And Then…

Following three engine failures at the takeoff point on Wednesday afternoon, passengers on board an Air Peace flight from Lagos to Anambra were able to avoid deaths.

The jet, which was supposed to take off at 11 am, was delayed for two hours after the airline’s management announced earlier that the plane originally booked for the Anambra journey had unexpectedly acquired a defect, Foundation for Investigative Journalism (Fij) reported.

A source stated that the flight crew “struggled” with the jet before takeoff and that technical difficulties caused a two-hour delay in passenger boarding.

“Air Peace asked for 15 minutes to fix a technical issue but they ended up wasting two hours of our time. When we boarded, five minutes after settling-in, the engine went off and they restarted it,” Professor said.

“I noticed how much they were struggling with the plane. They would restart it only for it to stop again. At some point, they had even shut the door before the engines went off completely.

“There and then, I knew the plane was not in good shape and stood up immediately.”

Moreover, this is the second time this year Air Peace is said to have experienced this mishap. Luck smiled on 150 passengers in April after narrowly escaping death due to a heavy storm.

The impacted Air Peace flight left Asaba Airport at 17:07 and was scheduled to arrive at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at 6:15, but it almost made a crash landing there before it was redirected to Lagos.

The incident, however, forced the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN to close down the airport for 2 days until the tyre was replaced.
