BREAKING: Trump Shuts Down US Migrant Entry App

Immigration into the United States of America (USA) will become more than ever difficult, if indications from the current Donald Trump administration is anything to do by.

The administration yesterday made good its resolve to shut down the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) app, introduced by the Joe Biden administration in early 2023.

The app was designed to offer migrants a regulated pathway to seek asylum in the US.

The latest however is that the app has been shut down by the Trump administration just as it had promised shorty after winning the election.

Not only that, it added that all existing appointments had been cancelled.

The newly inaugurated president had repeatedly spoken about containing the rate of immigration into the country, beginning partly by strengthening of border controls.

Already, the decision has left tens of thousands of migrants stranded at the southern border, many of whom had already made their way to designated entry points in anticipation of their scheduled appointments, agency reports have said.

They cite as an example, the El Chaparral border crossing in Tijuana, Mexico, where confusion and frustration have become palpable.

This happened after migrants who had been checking out opportunities to check in applying through the app, realized that it had been shut.
