BREAKING: Possible Ebola Outbreak In UK As Government Closes…

Health authorities are looking into a possible Ebola case in Colchester after a patient with suspicious symptoms traveled to Africa, where a form of the deadly virus is present in Uganda, and returned to the United Kingdom (UK).

A part of Colchester Hospital in Essex was closed to new patients on Wednesday due to fears that a patient with a history of travel to Africa was displaying early signs of the deadly hemorrhagic virus Ebola.

According to The Telegraph, as part of standard infection control protocol that takes effect when suspected instances are discovered in travelers, representatives from the UK Health Security Agency are testing the patient for a number of diseases.

If authenticated, this would mark the first Ebola case discovered in Britain since 2014, when Pauline Cafferkey, a Scottish nurse fighting the outbreak that killed 11,000 people, and another person contracted the disease in West Africa before coming to the UK.

In a statement, Colchester Hospital said one clinical area had been temporarily closed “because of an infection control issue”, but that the centre was up and running as of 7am.

“Thank you to all our patients and staff for their support yesterday afternoon when we had to temporarily close one clinical area at Colchester Hospital, the urgent treatment centre, to new patients. This was because of an infection control issue. The centre is now fully open,” the hospital said.
