Arsenal Boss Arteta To Contest FA’s Charge For Embarrassing VAR Comments 

Mikel Arteta is expected to challenge the FA’s decision to prosecute him for his “embarrassing” VAR remarks following Newcastle’s loss.

Following three video checks and a contentious Anthony Gordon goal that sealed Arsenal’s defeat to Newcastle, Arteta denounced Stuart Attwell and Andy Madley’s VAR rulings as “embarrassing” and a “disgrace” to the game. After that, the Gunners manager was accused of violating FA rule E3.1 because of remarks he made that “constitute misconduct” and “are insulting towards match officials and/or detrimental to the game and/or bring the game into disrepute.”

The manager will not back down and will not refute the claims, according to Mirror, and Arteta has till Friday to reply to them. Declan Rice came out in favour of his coach, and the team rallied fully behind their boss, even releasing a statement to that effect.

Arteta could face a potential touchline ban and a fine if proven guilty. However, he can still be present in the dugout on Saturday against Brentford if the ban is not announced before the match.
