Ajadi Urges #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Protests Organisers

Gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Ogun State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has reacted to the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria which kicked off today in different parts of the country.

The politician, while applauding the Nigerian people for standing up for good governance in the protests, said it had become inevitable on account of the hardship the people were going through.

He said it tallies with his long-standing positon that the country had enough to go round and that there was no reason for any Nigerian to go to bed without food in their belly.

The reason for hunger and hardship in the country, he said,, had always been bad governance, which had manifested itself in bad management of the resources that God had blessed the country with.

“It is the constitutional right of our people to protest, to show their discomfort and the sharp problems they are facing in the economy.

“God generously blessed this country, and what any government worth its name should do is to ensure the goodness of God for Nigeria goes round. It is to make life affordable and comfortable with the resources that God has blessed the country with.

“To do otherwise, is to invite the negative reaction of the people, just as it is happening today”, he said.

The entrepreneur-politician however has an advice for as many as are participating in the protests.

“My advice however is for us to shun violence. We can always be peaceful while showing our dissatisfaction, we have done it before with the EndSARS protests. Nigerian youths came out in their millions but remained peaceful throughout,

“It was only when hoodlums came, that the protest turned the other way.

“So, my advice is for the organsiers of this one to be careful with those who may want to hijack the protest.”.

He said they should not allow themselves to be used to cause mayhem by those whose intention is to discredit the protest.

“I also want to use this opportunity to appeal again to the President, to get into action, and tackle hardship in the country.

“Some things are key: make petroleum products available and affordable in the country for a start. As at yesterday, intelligence reports show that there were still fuel queues in many fuel stations. This should not be, especially because we are oil producing and any time there is slight disruptions in the supply and sale of the product, every other thing will become expensive.

“Secondly, let the government fix infrastructure like roads, electricity and water. These are important for production, and would help to reduce cost of living in the country”, Ambassador Ajadi advised. .
