BUHARI OVERRULES NEC: NO TENURE ELONGATION FOR OYEGUN

by Cami Ezenwa

The expectation of members of the National Working committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to see their tenures elongated may have been dashed.

This is because the presidential candidate of the party and the nation’s president, Alhaji Muhammadu Buahari,  has just said that the party would not tolerate anything like tenure elongation.

The APC National Executive Committee NEC had pandered to pressures by members of the committee and other influential lobbysts without due clearance from Buhari, and now this.

Oyegun himself praided the decision, saying the extension was done in good fate, to give the party room to face the serious task ahead, especially the 2019 general elections.

In his reaction however, Buhari sees the  action of NEC as an infringement on not just the party constitution but the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He said he took his position based on advice from his Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
