Jordan Henderson has been voted Player of the Matchweek for Matchweek 6 after scoring two outstanding goals and providing an assist in Chelsea’s emphatic 5-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth.
The 36-year-old made an immediate impact on his home debut for the Blues, opening the scoring after just two minutes with a superb first-time strike before setting up Morgan Rogers to double Chelsea’s lead just one minute later. He then capped his performance with a stunning free-kick into the top corner.
Henderson became the oldest Chelsea player to be directly involved in three goals in a Premier League match, and the oldest player from any club to achieve the feat in the competition since Cristiano Ronaldo in April 2022, when the Portuguese scored twice and provided an assist for Manchester United against Norwich City.
Henderson’s early goal and assist also put him among the quickest players to achieve both feats in a Premier League match. Only Emile Heskey, for Leicester City against Derby County in April 1998, has scored and assisted earlier in a match.
Henderson’s influential display helped Chelsea to an emphatic win and earned him 53 per cent of the votes from Premier League fans.

He is the second Chelsea player to be named Player of the Matchweek this season after Cole Palmer earned the most votes for his performance against Fulham in Matchweek 1.
The other nominees this week included Manchester City’s Elliot Anderson, Crystal Palace’s Walter Benitez, Everton’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Ipswich Town’s Dara O’Shea, Henderson’s Chelsea teammate Joao Pedro and Coventry City defender Bobby Thomas.
