Traders and their customers were winding up for the day when mayhem broke lose at an open market that not only led to casualties but that also resulted in injuries and loss of property.

Site of occurrence was the crop market located in Mangu town, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State,

“At about 8 p.m. on Friday, gunmen shot several times at a vehicle leaving the vegetable market in Mangu, killing two women and a young man”, President of the Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA), Bulus Dabit said.

Dabit is now calling on the authorities to rise up to the occasion and stem the incidents of threats to lives and property.

He said he was particularly concerned because the attack is coming amidst recent deployment of soldiers to the area.

That deployment was in response to last month’s attacks in different parts of Mangu LGA that left many people dead.

According to him, security agents should deploy technology to arrest the perpetrators before they had time to launch further attacks.
