Some memories can indeed last a lifetime, especially when they touch society’s critical encouraging teachers and education administrators.
So it was recently when Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State, rewarded outstanding teachers and students with cash awards.
Annual Teachers Empowerment Project and HEYS Agenda Reloaded aims at promoting excellence, dedication and improved learning outcomes in public schools.
It is an initiative the chairman of the council, Mr David Odunmbaku, who however was represented by his Vice Chairman, Mrs Funmilayo Layeni.
The event which held at the council secretariat, Powerline, Oke-Ira, Lagos was well attended putting smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries.
“This is more than a presentation ceremony, but a celebration of education, excellence, dedication, empowerment and reaffirmation of our administration’s commitment to investing in the people and future of Ojodu,” Odunmbaku said.
According to him, it was a good way at honouring teachers and students given their hard work, discipline, dedication and perseverance
On what the council had done in boosting education, he said his administration had distributed 1,250 General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms and 1,800 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms between 2022 and 2026.

It has also given out 60,000 exercise books, 4,000 school bags, 3,730 school uniforms and 150 Back-To-School kits, he informed.
“Also, 1,100 pairs of desks and chairs have also been provided to public schools across the council area, among other interventions,” the chairman said.
The Head of Education Department, Ojodu LCDA, Mr Akeem Adekoya, commended the chairman for the initiative, noting that it would motivate teachers to perform better.
“This gesture will not only reward excellence but also inspire other teachers to remain committed to their duties,” Adekoya said.
