This is unbelievable: men suspected to be kidnappers abducted the corpse of an FRSC Commander and some mourners accompanying it
They have also gone ahead to demand N450 million ransom.
Shockingly, the corpse was that of late Deputy Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Augustine O. Ikwue.
Ikwue had died in Osogbo, Osun state, after a brief illness and the corpse was being conveyed to his hometown at Otukpo in Benue state when the kidnappers struck.
The vehicle had nine mourners, including two operatives of the commission.
Immediately the vehicle ran into their ambush, along Ochadamu-Ejule road in Ofu local government of Kogi state around 6pm, they came out and hijacked it.
They immediately reached the family, demanding N450m .
But then they were not sure who was following them as they later dropped the corpse at around Ejule community.
“We recovered the corpse of the officer in Ejule community on Friday after frantic searching , and handed it over to the family. He was buried on Saturday in his home town at Otukpo in Benue”, the Kogi state sector Commander of FRSC, Lawal Fagge, said while confirming the incident.
“The abductors used the cellphone of the deceased officer , and called his wife ,demanding huge sum of money for those in their captivity to regain their freedom,” Fagge added.

According to him, the abductors abandoned the FRSC Commander ‘s corpse around Ejule community, when they sensed danger.
Somehow, they got wind of the mobilisation of security operatives, including the Army, police, hunters and vigilantes groups and realized there was no escpate route for them.
Several people are raising concern over the incident , stressing that the bandits have no respect for the dead.
