Improved power supply was major agenda when the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and Nigerian Independent System Operator Kano Region held an interface meeting with Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).
The Tuesday, 12, May 2026, reviewed progress recorded from previous engagements with a view to addressing identified operational challenges
A statement from the TCN stated that the meeting held at the Conference Room of its Regional Office in Kano, focusing on analysing the growing cases of 33kV feeder trippings and identifying practical solutions to improve power system stability and service delivery across the region.
Speaking during the meeting, the General Manager Transmission (GM, T) Kano Region, Engr. M.K. Bello, emphasised the importance of regular interface meetings among power sector stakeholders.
He noted that this would help in tackling operational challenges, improving communication, and enhancing efficiency within the electricity network.

During the deliberations, the Regional Operations Manager (ROM) of the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) presented a summary report on 33kV feeder trippings recorded between January and March 2026. The presentation highlighted key operational concerns and provided a basis for discussions on possible measures to reduce system disturbances.
Engr. Sabi’u Haruna who led the KEDCO’s delegation acknowledged the tripping incidents highlighted in the report and assured the meeting that KEDCO would strengthen its operational response and play its part in reducing feeder trippings to the barest minimum.
All of these are expected to result in improved power supply in the area.
