There has been panic in Maasai Mara today, after a plane ferrying tourists crashed at the Ol Kiombo Airstrip today, a report from Kenyans.co.ke shows.
Footage shows a small white plane, seemingly looking like the Cessna 208 Caravan, landing awkwardly on its nose, with its tail pointing up.
Several people, including some in uniforms, are seen running across the field toward the crashed aircraft. In the foreground, a similar small white plane with the tail registration 5Y-CMS is stationary on the ground.
Several vehicles can be seen moving across the landscape as the scene unfolds, with individuals rushing toward the incident while others continue to drive along the surrounding area. The situation appears tense and fast-moving.
A Kenya Wildlife Service Official confirmed the incident in a phone interview, stating that a plane carrying an unknown number of tourists was involved in the occurrence at the Maasai Mara Game Reserve.
“Indeed, there was a plane crash incident reported at the game reserve. That is all we can gather at the moment,” stated Wanyama.
Additionally, KWS also confirmed that there were no casualties reported from the incident.
Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the accident, as investigations into the incident are still in their early stages.
The total number of people on board at the time of the crash has not been established, with officials yet to release a verified passenger and crew manifest.

Key details surrounding the flight remain unclear, including its origin, intended destination, and whether it was operating as a tourist charter, private aircraft, or cargo plane.
This is not an isolated incident. This year alone, the country has witnessed a number of plane crashes. Last month, a skydiving plane operating in Diani was forced into an emergency landing, but fortunately, every single person on board escaped without injury owing to the precautionary measures taken by the pilot.
The Eagle reports that the Maasai Mara is a popular wildlife conservation area famous for its populations of different species of wildlife, and has become a foremost tourist attraction in Kenya.
